Corrosion of Conformity grabs gold with 'Deliverance'

Well, it's about fucking time, yeah?

On Aug. 1, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) certified that Corrosion of Conformity's epic 1994 album "Deliverance" had finally reached gold status of 500,000-plus units sold.

I remember one day about 29 years ago when a package arrived in our San Jose mailbox that was stuffed with an advance cassette copy of this MFer. Thanks to longtime pal and COC guitarist Woody Weatherman, we were privy to hear mammoth tunes like "Heaven's Not Overflowing," "Albatross" and our Thin Lizzy-derived fave "Clean My Wounds" before most 'bangers in the metal/rock orbit got their clenched fists near them.

What a treat, so preesh, Woody for that.

I only wish that my buddy Reed Mullin (drums) was still roaming this Earth to wrap this glorious news around his blonde-locked lid. Congrats, my boy! RIP.

A tip of the metal horns also goes to Pepper Keenan (vocals, guitar) and Mike Dean (bass, vocals on the title track).

Long live COC!
