Tommy Stinson of the Replacements. (All Andy photos) |
By Andy
Just like a bunch of rambunctious kids, Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson and the rest of The Replacements ran/stumbled onto the stage laughing at the start of last Sunday's gig in Seattle.
After a quick "Hey," they launched into "Favorite Thing" and we were set for the next 75 minutes.
With guitarist Dave Minehan and drummer Josh Freese in tow, the two original 'Mats led the charge through a career-spanning set of ragged and raging tunes. Couldn't have been more perfect.
Also at Bumbershoot, we checked out Mission of Burma, Sandrider, Red Fang, Dream Syndicate and Big Star Third... it's an understatement to say this was a solid lineup and included is some photographic evidence. (Andy took these with a Nikon Coolpix, since Cat couldn't bring her SLR into the fest... not bad, huh?)
We closed out our epic Sunday digging on Corrosion of Conformity, Brant Bjork and Low Desert Punk and Lord Dying at El Corazon ... twas a damn fine day.
Batman ... actually, it's Paul Westerberg. |
